Shaw Gibbs is an expert team of accounting professionals and business advisers with offices in Oxford and London. They work with a variety of clients, ranging from successful individuals to charities and SMES, providing accounting, tax and business services.
What was the problem?
Regional accountancy firm Shaw Gibbs approached us for help developing the contractual framework for its market leading online accountancy service, SG Connex. They required input into the structuring and tailoring of a bespoke set of terms and conditions alongside legal advice regarding e-commerce implications, data protection and security.
What did we do?
As Shaw Gibbs was an early adopter in offering an online accountancy practice, there were a number of challenges that we had to overcome. The back-office procedures and protocols were still quite fluid some way down the line and we had to be extremely flexible in accommodating major changes at the last minute - and then able to reflect these changes in the contractual documentation prior to launch.
Our expertise in the area of e-commerce services enabled us to make particular considerations around the data protection aspects and contract formation in an online context (and how to deal with the regulatory concerns around “Know your client” and money laundering).
What did they say?
“As a part of their continued drive to make life easier for their clients, Shaw Gibbs have recently launched SGConnex, an online accounts service fully integrated with accounting software Xero, creating instant and ongoing access for businesses from anywhere at any time. Manish was a key part of the ClaydenLaw team who provided Shaw Gibbs with vital input into the structuring and tailoring of a bespoke set of terms and conditions for SGConnex as well as legal advice around e-commerce implications, data protection and security.” - Edward Porter, Director of Shaw Gibbs
